Welcome to our History Page

Ottaway Inn is located in Corry, Pennsylvania, thirty (30) miles southeast of Erie.  This historical town was established in 1861.  Ottaway Inn was designed and occupied by one of Corry’s premiere architects, A.P. Mount.  The Inn’s rehabilitation concentrates on its historical features, such as the variety of wood used in the original design of the home.

Ottaway Inn was built in 1865, the year Abe Lincoln died.  A.P. Mount also designed the Corry Municipal Building, the Corry Public Library, the Water Supply Company, the Corry Armory, the Elks Lodge and several homes.  George R. Ottaway purchased the home in 1965 living in it until he relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in 1988, to be with his children Robert (Bob) Ottaway, Randall Ottaway, Roger Ottaway and Roween Ottaway.

The Ottaway family decided to painstakingly restore the 142-year-old house to its original condition.  With three years of hard work and extensive renovations, the house was transformed into a charming bed & breakfast.  The integrity of the home has been preserved for our family and our guests.  The Edwardian style home includes all three original mantle pieces, a formal dining room, sitting room, formal living room, two pocket doors, grand staircase in the foyer, hard wood floors and original baseboards / moldings.

The home includes three (3) guest rooms: the Hallmark, Headcorn and Heritage chambers.  Both the Hallmark and Headcorn chambers have queen size beds hand crafted out of white oak.  The Heritage chamber has two twin beds made of mahogany.  The nightstands, desks and dressers are hand made from white oak, which compliments the home's original type of wood.  Each chamber has its own private bathroom, cable TV and air-conditioning.  Our guests will wake up to enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by our host.

Ottaway Inn is located in the heart of Northwestern Pennsylvania’s famous Route 6, which extends across the top of the state bordering the New York state line. We have quick access to Erie, Jamestown, Peek - N - Peak and Niagara Falls.
